Sustainability

We as Hotel Volendam are committed to reducing the impact of our activities on the environment. Corporate Social Responsibility is therefore an important aspect within our hotel.

Green Key

The Green Key guarantees the commitment of the accommodation to do everything possible to minimize the pressure of the company on nature and the environment. The Green Key criteria ensure that there is a good balance between sustainable business on the one hand and comfort on the other. To qualify for Green Key certification, companies must take measures related to environmental care and CSR.

As a hotel, we are Green Key certified and have even achieved the highest attainable level of Gold. Our hotel is thus recognized as an accommodation with a visible policy for making our hotel, restaurant and meeting product more sustainable.

Activities

We keep a close eye on our social responsibility in our business operations. Therefore, we are continuously working to further develop and make our hotel more sustainable.

  • Towels and linen change, during your stay you can also contribute. You can choose to skip your linen change.

  • Charging stations, electric driving is the future and we like to see electric cars. That is why we have created electric charging stations at Hotel Volendam.

  • Heat recovery, heating something takes a lot of energy, that is why at Hotel Volendam we use heat recovery in a number of places.

  • CO2 Footprint every year the CO2 footprint is drawn up. We compensate the amount of CO2 we emit by investing in sustainable projects.

  • Fair fish, at Hotel Volendam we try to serve our guests 'fair' fish. Unfortunately for the hotel, it is not possible to obtain eel sustainably. We have applied for dispensation due to the fact that eel is of cultural-historical nature and some of our guests come to Volendam especially to eat eel!
